  • While we are speaking about saving money, I have really been trying to master which foods to keep in stock at home for many meals that would be easy to cook without A. having to run to the store to buy extra ingredients, or B. surrendering and going out to eat.

We are also trying to stay generally healthy, shopping at organic food stores.

Here is the list I am going to use to shop today:

    Dry Cereal
    Oatmeal
    Soy Milk
    Honey
    Bananas
    Eggs
    Chicken Thighs
Cream of Mushroom Soup (to put over chicken when baking)
Rice (because I am Asian and need to keep a large supply)
    Onion
    Potatoes
    Baking Powder
    Baked Beans
    Refried Beans

    Shredded Cheese

    Tortillas
    Pork
    Salt
    Mushrooms
    Lemon Juice
    Bread
    Mac & Cheese
    Chili
    Soda
    Yogurt
    Parmesan Cheese
    Pasta
    Soy Sauce
    Tomatoes
    Yeast
Vanilla Ice Cream (Tastes great drizzled with honey...)

    I am getting hungry!!

  • Kindness

If I haven't mentioned before, my husband and I are in the process of purchasing a home...so exciting!

I definitely do feel like life is going in the right order, married at 22 (yes, I am aware that every time I speak to any single female over 30 she informs me that is way to young, but I don't care since it feels perfectly right!) and then purchasing a home at 23. Our next step is to travel for 5 years. Europe (especially Germany and Ireland) is on our wish list, since I have visited the Philippines in the past. My mother is Chinese and grew up in the Philippines, and my father grew up in Germany. My husband's family is mostly Irish, and some Greek. So our next step would be to travel to Ireland.

Back to purchasing our house, with buying a home comes great sacrifice, but I know it will be worth it. Everything we have saved currently is being spent on the down payment and appliances.

    So we are scrounging!

We have hardly any food at home, and have not gone out at all. Not to say we are entirely broke, we have a savings account, and give each other allowance every two weeks for gas and food. This is helping us stay on track with savings.

I am astounded at the kindness those around me demonstrate. For example, at work when I was so hungry, my coworker actually took out his wallet to try to give me money to buy food! :) I of course declined, but did accept some soup in a packet, which was delicious. Today another coworker bought me yogurt!

On another note, my mind was elsewhere while pumping gas, and I forgot to close the screw in the gas cap and shut the door. An employee ran out and shut it for me! Another time recently, I had a grocery cart full of mostly everything I needed to make sinigang, and needed bok choy. The grocery employee said they were out, but did find me one in the back.

To close, good actions do come around to everybody.

Just as an update to my quest to find a volunteer opportunity, I narrowed it down to accompanying children at the art museum or volunteering to help animals. Opinions?

  • Hair & Tonight's Outfit

I went thrift store shopping today! I spent 29 dollars, and I found creative outfits. Tonight is my husband's friend's sister's birthday party and we are supposed to wear something sparkly or shiny. I found this awesome short plaid skirt, a cream tank top with butterflies, hearts, and such graphics all over, and this sweet gold, sequined loose tank top to wear over it. Awesome! Not sure yet what shoes to wear, probably just simple flip flops.

Next week we are both going to get haircuts. I have been growing out my hair for exactly two years now, and have gotten 2 minor trims since then, in which the stylist just cut an inch off the bottom to get rid of split ends. I think this time I am going to have her cut three or four inches off. My hair has gotten so long, and reaches my mid back, and goes past my bust. I keep it brushed, but it tangles so easily and there are split ends everywhere. With that haircut, I think it would be more manageable, and my hair would just reach right above my armpit. I am also going to ask for a long, side swept bang and many layers to get rid of all unhealthy ends and make it easier to brush. I am excited to get my hair cut.

  • Current Troubles

"For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever." 2 Corinthians 4:17 NLT

I am blessed to have an amazing friend who was there and listened to me Saturday night. Just went through a rough weekend, but she is very encouraging to me. This trouble is just the result of another bad thing that may have happened. I got through the weekend, and hope things will improve from here.

Just to reflect on my last blog, it is so important to get away from always being alone or behind a wall and face others, enjoying the small pleasure of helping others and being involved in the lives other others, creating a positive impact that will last forever.

I am creating a challenge for myself: to find a volunteer opportunity. Maybe even bring a friend. And complete this in the month of August.

After all, the best thing in life is to create a positive impact on society.

See my face not through a wall.

I am emerging out of my shell of working life away. I am no longer the average and normal girl who relies on technology to maintain a life, because I realize that technology is only temporary, and the true challenge is overcoming social anxiety, being able to relax around friends and family, not always having to run off somewhere. Not finding a friend on Facebook to catch up on their life activities, but giving that friend a call, or a visit. Face to face meetings, developing love and relationships. Being able to give that true impression of myself. Saying this is WHO I AM.

The challenge is not to hide Monday through Friday behind a wall, but talk to my colleagues, not through the wall.

I want time to read, and get lost, in a book. I want to spend hours on a drawing, or a piece of art that is generated by my own mind. I just want to close my eyes and become immersed in a song and feel the strength of the rhythm.

    Life needs to be cherished.
